I ended my 3.5 month no wash ordeal and my scalp was finally getting oily. After a shampooing, I noticed that the condition of my hair was horrible. It was beyond dry, hair clumps (not strands!) were falling out, and areas of uneven perms/relaxers were obvious. As some of you may recall from old posts, I spent a lot of time on my hair using natural care during high school. I spaced out my perms every 6 months. In between perms, I either used unrefined coconut or avocado oils or made my own spritz using EVOO, ylang-ylang, rosemary and what not. I realized after living on my own and juggling college as well as campus hooligans, I have lost my hair care regimen.
So I decided to get back into basic care and protective hair styling to try and at least bring SOME relief to my hair. Today I did a 30 minute deep condition with Queen Helene's Hair Cholesterol (of course I ended up adding 6-10 drops of Australian Tea Tree Oil) and after washing it out, I heavily moisturized with unrefined coconut oil, combed it out and covered my hair bun with a stocking cap. My hair looked so thirsty beforehand!
I'm sorry I've neglected you, curly hair!! :o
....okay and back to biology and study groups via phone. -____-
bye. <3

Africa's Best Hair Oil
So I ran out of ideas on how to mix up my hair moisturizers. I'm also tired of having to mix-up something in my spray bottle. Lately, I've been using a mixture of distilled water, organic vegetable glycerin, cold pressed olive oil, tea tree and rosemary essential oils. That combination has really made my hair SUPER soft. The glycerin really helps to seal in the moisture. I haven't relaxed my hair in maybe 3 months and I'm trying to stretch it out. Nappy hair isn't easy to deal with and the best thing I can do for it is to condition my hair after putting chemicals in it. lol, I'm definitely OVER and traumatized from having dreadlocks as a kid because my Asian mother didn't know how to deal with black hair. That's what she gets from messing with Mandingo. Hahaha!
On the Black Hair Media Forums, the girls have been raving about Africa's Best Ultimate Oil. I couldn't believe that something that wasn't made in your own kitchen was not only cheap, but had nothing but natural oils in its ingredients. I went to the store to check it out myself and I was expecting to see the typical carcinogenic and pore clogging ingredients like mineral oil, petroleum, and Red #40 hidden somewhere.
To my surprise, there was only:
Soy Bean Oil , Walnut Seed Oil, Kiwi Fruit Extract , Olive Fruit Oil , Castor Seed Oil , Sesame Seed Oil , Jojoba Seed Oil , Carrot Seed Oil , Sweet Almond Oil , Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Safflower Oil , Calendula Extract , Yarrow Extract , Cucumber Extract , Carrageenan Extract , Ginseng Extract , Sage Extract , Comfrey Extract , Aloe Extract
All of this in an 8 oz. bottle for about $2! So I did a hot oil treatment with it and my hair came out so shiny and soft. No frizz! Just as if I had just had my relaxer done. Great stuff!
**(I don't recommend this for people who already have straight hair as straight hair is naturally oily on its own.)**

Molasses?
Alrighty. I feel better today, still feeling betrayed, but better.
So, I'm noticing my hair when I brush it every morning after I wake up. It feels and looks different, but I don't want to just assume things because I changed my regime a bit. Remember last time when I tried different oils to naturally make my hair healthy? Well, I finally obtained a bottle of blackstrap molasses (smells so disgusting) and whipped up some kind of concoction that I think turned out well.
- 1/2 c. Plantation Blackstrap Molasses
- 3 drops 100% Omega 3-6-9 Total EFA Fish Oil
- 2 tbsp. Clover Honey
- 4 tbsp. Creme of Nature Conditioner (without sodium lauryl sulfate)
- 1 drop 100% E.O. Rosemary

The before picture looked good, but my hair seemed too heavy compared to the after pictures. I also stopped using Avocado oil for a while. Now I just use Ylang Ylang with virgin olive oil and from time to time virgin coconut oil. But a majority of the time, it's the Ylang Ylang mixture. I think the molasses mix balanced my hair's thickness. The after picture looks more lively than the before, I thought. My hair is also softer and darker in pigment. Shall I keep using this? :-)
